Pinterest has unveiled a new feature that allows users to pin places they want to visit in one place.
The new Place Pins come as the image-led social media website found people pin nearly 1.5 million places they want to visit every day.
Users will have their own map which they can pin images too and build up inspiration for holidays away, meaning they can effectively plan a trip through the photos that are posted on the site.
In addition, users will be able to see the location details on their phone and get directions through the site through a tie-up with Foursquare.
“Place Pins were designed to combine the beautiful imagery of a travel magazine with the utility of a map online so you can share it with friends,” the website’s blog reads. “Place Pins also include extra details like the address and phone number right on the Pin so you can easily pull up useful info on a weekend adventure or before a night out.”
The website has also teamed up with various travel companies, associations and bloggers to create themed Place Pin maps. VisitBritain’s covers the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the UK; Time Out London shows the Christmas highlights in the capital and Fest300’s shows festivals around the world.
