Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened the Sheraton Shanghai Waigaoqiao Hotel – the company’s 11th property in the city.
Located in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, at the mouth of the Yangtze River, the hotel is connected to Shanghai’s Lujiazui Financial District via highways and metro lines, and is a 20-minute drive from Pudong International Airport.
“We are proud to extend the Sheraton brand’s footprint to this dynamic economic zone during the iconic brand’s 75th year anniversary celebration,” said Qian Jin, Starwood’s President for Greater China. “As a key trading port as well as one of the biggest economic contributors among all free trade zones in China, Waigaoqiao houses many international and domestic companies, triggering strong demand for a world renowned upper-upscale hospitality brand.”
The Sheraton Shanghai Waigaoqiao Hotel features 440 rooms and suites with harbour views, as well as the brand’s lobby IT hub concept, Link@Sheraton, a Shine Spa, fitness centre and 2,600m² of meeting space, including a 1,000m² ballroom.
Four food and beverage venues include Chinese, Japanese and international restaurants and a tea lounge.
“The introduction of this Sheraton hotel to the Waigaoqiao area provides an ideal choice for travellers visiting the vibrant and bustling business district in Shanghai,” said the hotel’s GM, Depesh Seth. “For over 75 years, Sheraton has become a trusted friend to travellers around the world. We are excited to be part of its impressive portfolio, bringing guests an unparalleled experience with our premier facilities and warm services.”
