Ex-Wedgewood Holidays and Thomson employee Caroline Beeching has set up her own inbound destination management company (DMC) to take advantage of the inbound tourism growth to the UK.
Beeching told Travel Daily UK she decided to set up CB Travel after working at JacTravel putting together itineraries around the Olympics for the corporate and incentives market.
CB Travel’s website is now live and will look to markets such as France, Germany, Russia, China and Australia to promote her services.
“My background has always been in sales and finding accommodation and after working in a home-based role with JacTravel during the Olympics I realised I could do it alone,” she explained. “When I returned back to work after having children I had roles at companies such as Western & Oriental but my heart is in the inbound market and to have the budget and create something from that is something I really love to do.”
Beeching’s focus is predominantly the business market and with years in the business she has already organised several successful groups including one that included a recording at Abbey Road Studios.
“My experience and contacts means I can get into some areas that others can’t and make something happen; it’s about trying to get the dreams and aspirations and to put it into place. No isn’t a word that comes into it,” she added.
Currently working alone, she plans to take on people in each separate market who knows the culture and languages to develop further, even though her website will soon be translated into French.
Beeching will also be creating incentive itineraries around up-coming events in the UK including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Tour de France start in Yorkshire.
She is also keen to encourage groups to take trips outside of London including Scotland, Bath and Cornwall.
