London-based Noble Caledonia has acquired a new ship, the third in its fleet.
The new ship, named Sea Explorer, is the cruise line’s third to have joined from Renaissance Cruises after already taking on Island Sky and Caledonian Sky.
It was previously known as Corinthian II and will join Noble Caledonia’s fleet in October after a refit including being equipped with a fleet of inflatable Zodiacs.
The small ship operator said the ship addition comes after ‘unprecedented demand’ which has resulted in the company chartering up to 20 other vessels in any given year.
“We are indeed fortunate in being able to add this fine ship to our growing fleet. The demand from the UK and around the world for voyages aboard the ‘Island Sky’ and ‘Caledonian Sky’ has resulted with over 90% of capacity sold until early 2016, so the addition of a further vessel will allow us to meet the unprecedented demand we are currently experiencing,” said the line’s managing director Andy Cochrane.
Laura Cochrane, head of marketing and sales added: “We have been waiting for the right vessel to become available to expand our successful cruises in Scotland, Norway, Iceland and in the future Spitsbergen. Our ‘all-suite’ ships hit the right note with genuine travellers who love the comfort and relaxed atmosphere engendered on private yacht-like expedition ships.”
Itinerary details for the new ship will be unveiled soon. Next year Caledonian Sky will sail in the Pacific Ocean while Island Sky will cruise in the Indian Ocean before heading to the Mediterranean.
