Northwest to delay China routes

Delta Air Lines subsidiary, Northwest Airlines, has asked the US Department of Transportation to delay the start of its proposed Detroit-Shanghai and Seattle-Beijing routes, following an almost 30% drop in advance bookings to China, according to a CAPA report.
In addition, Delta will temporarily scale back its overseas expansion, delaying new flights to Paris, Tel Aviv and Gothenburg, citing the need to demonstrate capacity discipline during current the global economic crisis, the report added.
