The 4,000-passenger ship will sail seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries from PortMiami for the entire year, where it will be homeported.
“We are pleased that Meyer Werft will deliver this incredible vessel three months earlier than scheduled,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s president and chief executive officer. “Norwegian Getaway is going to offer a fantastic cruise opportunity sailing to the Eastern Caribbean.”
The first Miami cruise is due to take place on 1 February 2014, after inaugural events in Europe. The seven day itinerary takes in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and Nassau.
The details of Getaway’s Transatlantic crossing were also released – with the ship making a call into Southampton en route to Miami where it will be the biggest ship to homeport there.
In order to accommodate the Getaway, NCL has had to shift the itineraries of the Epic, Sun and Pearl.
