US-operator Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that cruises on its newest ship, the Getaway, are now open for sale to the general public.
Cruises for the 4,000-passenger vessel will start in February 2014 and concentrate on the Eastern Caribbean with the ship being homeported in PortMiami for the entire year.
The ship, which is the biggest ever to use Miami as a base, will typically call at the likes of Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Nassau, Bahamas. Fares will start from US$799 per person (GBP500).
The Getaway, which is still in its Meyer Werft shipyard, will include a range of accommodation including a special ‘Haven’ executive area which will require a keycard to gain access. The German shipyard made headlines recently by announcing that the ship would be delivered ahead of schedule and that it had been contracted to begin works on a new ship for Norwegian Cruise Line, which would be delivered in 2015.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s other new ship, the Breakaway, will homeported in New York and begin cruising in May 2013.
