Tourism New Zealand and Air New Zealand have teamed up to launch two new travel itineraries, which are aimed at encouraging more Asian travellers – an Singaporeans in particular – to visit the country.
Designed to highlight New Zealand’s “hidden gems”, the itineraries include an eight-day ‘Northern Bay of New Zealand and Hobbiton’ tour, which sees visitors fly from Auckland to Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty, explore volcanoes in Rotorua and take a movie set tour in Hobbiton.
The other itinerary is the nine-day ‘Discover Central New Zealand’ tour, which covers destinations such as Napier, Blenheim and Nelson, and takes visitors into New Zealand’s main wine-producing region. Both tours include flights between Singapore and Auckland.
“Many Singapore travellers choose to visit New Zealand as the environment and spectacular scenery provides a refreshing change from their bustling city life,” said Steven Dixon, Tourism New Zealand’s regional manager for South & Southeast Asia.
“Our research also shows that over half of Singapore travellers (58%) choose to travel ‘off the beaten track’ to places like Tauranga, Napier and Nelson where they can enjoy a diverse range of experiences and local culture with fewer crowds. These two new itineraries capture the country’s hidden gems and highlights how everything in New Zealand is close-by.”
Air New Zealand flies its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft direct from Singapore to Auckland every day, with onward connections to more than 20 destinations in New Zealand.
