Odisha a priority for Indian Railways
Indian Railways has identified Odisha as a priority state for the development.
The Economic Times reported India’s Railways Minister, Manoj Sinha, as stating on Sunday that Odisha would become a focal point of investment in future, with more funds to be allocated to the eastern state.
“Indian Railways is trying its best to further broaden the railway network in Odisha to make it as one of the finest in the country,” the minister told reporters in state capital Bhubaneswar. “It is our priority and the special interest of the Prime Minister to invest more in states like Odisha.”
He added that ongoing rail project will be “completed this year”, and that a future action plan for infrastructure development will be completed “in the coming days.” Under the action plan, “unconnected areas of the state would be given priority”, Sinha revealed.
At present, most rail services to, from or within Odisha terminate at Puri or Bhubaneswar.
