A number of hotels being developed by Omran either independently or in joint venture with strategic investors are due to come into operation over the course of this year. At the same time, construction work will kick off on a slew of other hospitality-related properties.
Luxury properties lined up for launch during the year include Musandam Resort in the north of the country, Rotana Hotel as part of the Salalah Beach Resort in Dhofar Governorate, and Jabal Akhdar Alila Resort. Other ventures, include the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), and Duqm Frontier City, will see some packages going out to tender this year.
Omran’s pivotal role in catalysing the growth of tourism and hospitality industry was outlined by the company’s vice-president (external affairs), Abdul Wahid al Farsi, at the Oman Construction Summit 2014.
In the south, Rotana Hotel, one of three properties that form part of the Salalah Beach integrated tourism complex developed by Muriya is expected to open its doors to guests during the first quarter of this year.
Significantly, Omran has also developed its own hospitality operation and management brand called ‘Atana’, said Al Farsi. Atana will primarily focus on operation and management of Omran’s three-star and four-star properties, such as Musandam Resort.
