The number of guests staying at four and five star hotels witnessed a significant rise of 23.4% by end of September 2014, reaching 529,466 guests in year-to-date figures, compared with 428,913 guests recorded during the same period in 2013, as reported by Times of Oman.
The total revenue for four and five star hotels also recorded a growth of by 9.8% during the same period, reaching OMR114 million compared with OMR103 million during the same period in 2013. The occupancy rate also increased, rising to 57.5% compared with a 54.9% occupancy rate recorded to September 2013.
The recently published ‘Main Indicators for four & five Star Hotels’ report issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) revealed that guests from Europe topped the list of hotel guests by end of September 2014, with 166,284 guests when compared with 127,663 guests during the same period in 2013. Following were Omanis with 156,672 guests by the end of September 2014, compared with 134,471 guests during the same period in 2013.
