In an effort to boost its competitiveness, Kansai International Airport Co. has said it will cut regular landing fees for airlines at the Osaka hub by 80%, if they increase flights or use larger planes. According to a Japan Times report, airlines taking advantage of the discount programme would see landing fees for a Boeing 777 slashed from JPY580,000 (US$6,240) to just JPY100,000. The discount will continue until late March 2011.
