Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, which operates the Peninsula chain, saw recurring profit last year rising 20% to HK$1.09 billion (US$140 million) on the back of buoyant travel demand.
But The Standard newspaper said its performance outlook was clouded by world economic and market uncertainty.
“Our Chicago and New York hotels depend pretty much on US corporate customers for conventions and business trips, but they are having smaller travel budgets,” chief executive Clement Kwok King-man was quoted saying.
