Outrigger opens new Phuket resort
The Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort will officially open its doors today (4 April 2013), with a grand beachside party.
Outrigger purchased the 8.4-hectare property in July last year, and it now becomes the Hawaii-based hotel company’s fourth property operating in Asia and the second in Phuket.
“The acquisition and opening of the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort gives Outrigger a wonderful and iconic resort property in Phuket, a remarkable holiday destination that goes from strength to strength. Early indications are that our new property will do very well in the family, couples and active lifestyle segments of the global holiday market,” said Outrigger’s Group President & CEO, David Carey, who is attending tonight’s opening ceremony.
The new property has several family-focused features, including a large water slide and kids’ club, ‘sports facilities and a choice of rooms, suites and villas.
Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific, added that the resort’s five F&B outlets would “set new benchmarks in ethical dining” by using food produced by local farmers and fishermen in the Phuket area.
