ONYX Hospitality Group has ‘broke ground’ with its new OZO hotel in Sri Lanka as construction began on the property.
Its OZO Kandy will open with 128 rooms, a swimming pool, two restaurants and ‘grab and go’ snack bar following the opening of the first OZO properties in Hong Kong next year and Koh Samui in 2014. Construction has also started on the OZO Colombo and another in Galle.
“Tourism in Sri Lanka is booming and we have identified a gap in the market for a product like OZO. This brand offers value and comfort for travellers looking for insider experiences, combined with good connectivity and a great sleep,” said Simon Allison, executive vice president & chief development officer at ONYX. “We are delighted to be breaking ground for the second OZO property in Sri Lanka [Kandy] and we hope this will be one of several ONYX projects in the region.”
