Philippine Airlines (PAL) has cancelled all flights in and out of Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport until 6pm today. PAL has been forced to shut down operations after the airline’s ground crew unions staged an “illegal work stoppage”. The unions are protesting the outsourcing of various services to private agents, with the handover set to begin on 1 October. Management took the decision at 9am this morning, with flights set to resume at 6pm onwards beginning with PR 145 to Iloilo. Affected passengers have been invited to change their booking or clam a refund through PAL ticket offices.
