Panambur, a beach located near Mangalore plans to ramp up tourist facilities for the upcoming summer holidays.
The Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project (PBTDP) is gearing up to install 20 new tents on the shores, to accommodate tourists at night.Last year, PBTDP has installed nine air-conditioned furnished tents on the shore. Each of these tents could accommodate two people. The new tents will be installed on wooden platforms as Coastal Regulation Zone rules do not allow permanent structures on beaches.
“20 new tents will be installed as there has been an increased demand from tourists. Tourists, staying in the tents will be provided complimentary breakfast,” Yatish Baikampady, chief executive officer of PBTDP told the Times of India.
Furthermore, visitors can also take a ride on horse carriage from the month of May, instead of walking to the beach from the National Highway. The beach authorities are planning to launch horse-carriage service with a seating capacity of 11 visitors. “The work of building the carriage is completed. We will bring a pair of horses from Mumbai. The service has been introduced to promote eco-friendly vehicles on the beach and it is expected to give a boost to beach tourism in this region,” he added.
