Peach Aviation, the new Japanese low-cost carrier, has taken delivery of its first aircraft. The Airbus A320-200 landed at Peach’s home base at Kansai International Airport, Osaka, following a flight from the Airbus factory in Toulouse, via the UAE and Thailand.
Shinichi Inoue, CEO of Peach Aviation commented; “We would like to thank our fans and supporters for helping us reach this point and we are extremely happy about the arrival of Peach Aviation’s first aircraft. Moving forward, we will be utilising new Airbus aircrafts to expand our network around Asia, operating in line with our three promises: Safety, 365 days of reasonable prices and Japan quality.”
Up until its first flight, scheduled for March 2012, Peach’s first aircraft will be used for staff and cabin crew training.
Peach Aviation is a joint venture between All Nippon Airways (ANA) and First Eastern Investment Group. It is initially planning to launch domestic services to Sapporo and Fukuoka, with international services to South Korea following in May 2012.
In total, the airline has ordered 10 A320s, which it plans to operate in a 180-seat, all-economy configuration.
