Penang delegation on promotional visit to China

Penang, Malaysia, has sent a delegation of 50 people to China this weekend to tap the outbound travel market. Led by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, representatives from the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta), Penang Peranakan Mansion, Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda), and the Malaysian Association of Hotels and Budget Hotel Association are attending the China (Guangzhou) International Tourism Industry Expo 2011.

Lim’s Press Secretary, Cheong Yin Fan, said in a statement that Penang must have a presence in the Chinese market. “Without the Chinese tourism market, it would be difficult to achieve Penang’s aspirations of relying on more than 50% of its GDP on tourism and services sector,” she added.
