07 Jan 10: South African Airways (SAA) has announced that due to scheduled works at Perth Airport to upgrade the main runway, its Saturday flight during the months of February and March, 2010 will be affected.
“We have discussed the planned upgrade with Westralia Airports Corporation, the operator of Perth Airport, and have been advised that due to works being undertaken on Saturdays that our usual Saturday morning departure time of 11.20 am to Johannesburg is not available.
“We have therefore decided to cancel flight SA 283 on Saturdays for the months of February and March only,” Thevan said.
“We will accommodate all passengers affected on any of the remaining six days of each of the affected weeks (SAA currently flies daily from Perth to Johannesburg) and are confident of accommodating our passengers’ requirements.
“While this might inconvenience people wanting to fly on Saturday, we very much support the planned upgrade of Perth Airport and the benefits this will bring to passengers travelling out of Perth,” Thevan said.
