The Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) recently hosted a series of networking sessions in both Singapore and Jakarta, as part of its ‘Redefine Perth’ campaign.
The campaign was launched in late August with a series of print and online advertisements targeted at conference and exhibition organisers, as well as corporate meeting and incentive planners. These associations and corporate events planners were then invited to attend the PCB’s Asian events.
The aim of the ‘Redefine Perth’ campaign was to challenge to MICE planners to redefine the boundaries of their next business event by hosting it in Perth. Participating PCB members – Burswood Entertainment Complex, Esplanade Hotel Group and the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre – were joined by Tourism Western Australia, Human Rhythms and Singapore Airlines in Singapore, and by Tourism Western Australia, Big Sky Entertainment and Garuda Indonesia in Jakarta.
Paul Beeson, the PCB’s Chief Executive Officer, said; “The challenge to ‘Redefine boundaries’ exemplifies the capacity for Perth to reinvigorate, reinvent and recharge corporate meetings and events. The sparkling capital of Western Australia offers a fresh perspective on business events with plenty of open space for delegates to think, breathe and connect.
“Due to their close proximity to Perth and sharing the same time zone, Singapore and Indonesia are key markets for us. Both countries enjoy strong political, socio-economic and educational ties with Western Australia. Singapore provides the second largest source of arrivals into Western Australia while Indonesian arrivals into Australia over the last few months have increased by 23% (Mar-May 2011). We look forward to taking this relationship to the next level.”
