The government of Peru will welcome an official Indian delegation in May, as part of efforts to boost trade and tourism between the two countries.
Rajeev Kher, Secretary of India’s Department of Commerce, has been invited to Lima for discussions about a free trade agreement (FTA).
“Secretary Kher would visit our country by early May to continue encouraging the opening of negotiations for a FTA between both countries and begin with the face-to-face works, which are part of the joint feasibility study,” said Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade & Tourism, Magali Silva.
An FTA between India and Peru would allow Indian firms establish joint ventures in Peru across a range of sectors.
Currently, Peru does not form part of India’s visa-on-arrival system, and Indians visiting Peru also need to apply for a visa prior to arrival.
