Philippine hotel boom
More than 20 new large-scale hotel and resort projects are expected to rise across the Philippines over the next five years, the Manila Standard Today has reported. These include new Raffles and Fairmont properties in Makati City, a new US$168 million Marriott development in New Port City, a US$250 million Shangri-La development in Fort Bonifacio and a new Sofitel in Cebu City. These developments add to the existing list of expansion projects currently under way at major hotels around the country, such as the Peninsula Manila, and the recently completed, multi-million peso upgrades to the Edsa Shangri-La Manila and InterContinental Manila.
