Philippines bans tourists from volcano

Tourism companies in the Philippines have been banned fromtaking visitors to the area surrounding the Taal volcano, approximately65km south of Manila. According to a Manila Times report, the activevolcano has been showing signs that it may erupt, with authoritiesraising the level of alert. While there has been no forced evacuationof residents, some of those living on the volcanic island have leftvoluntarily.
