Phuket cancels low season

A group of local hoteliers and businesses in Phuket have “cancelled” the 15 April to 1 November low season, and are renaming the period more appropriately “Summer Season”. The move intends to better reflect the fact that Phuket is one of the world’s top year-round vacation and second home destinations.
“We’re going to have a bit of fun with this campaign which starts with ‘cancelling’ the low season,” said Nick Anthony, Managing Director of Indigo Real Estate and the spokesperson for the group, “and hopefully in the process expose to the world the fact that partly because of changing global weather patterns, summer in Phuket now means fewer rainy days and long periods of delightful sunny weather.”
The six-month international PR campaign and internet promotion launching ‘Summer in Phuket’ also looks to counter negative media reports about the effects of the global economic downturn and internal Thailand political issues.
“We’re looking not only to survive but to do well in this potentially prolonged International down draft,” added Dominique Rong
