Hotels in Phuket saw a dramatic year-on-year slide in terms of average daily rates (ADR) in the third quarter of 2010, according to the latest Phuket Hotel MarketView report from CB Richard Ellis. Despite an improved tourism performance, the ADR of selected hotels on the Thai holiday island decreased 7.5% compared to Q3 2009. Luxury hotels saw the most dramatic decline in ADR, falling of 9.7% year-on-year, followed by mid-range hotels with a 6.1% drop. The average occupancy rate of upscale hotels decreased from 52.7% Q3 2009 to 48.7% in Q3 2010, however the figure did mark an improvement from the 47.1% occupancy level seen in Q2 2010.
