Plans to develop an extensive video surveillance network is finally taking shape with the government set to officially invite applications.Times of India said in the wake of the recent bombings in Mumbai, the state government has attracted severe criticism for “needless delays” in setting up the network. A committee appointed after the 26/11 carnage, had recommended the measures three years ago but it never took off.Now, after another round of terror strikes, the plan-which involves installation of 5,000 CCTV cameras-across the city, has finally been activated, the report said.
