Amadeus has announced it is to lead a consortium that will develop a pan-European transport information and booking system.
The technology firm has been appointed by the European Commission (EC) alongside BeNe Rail, IATA, Thales, UNIFE and Zeppelin University to develop a system that will ease travel across Europe.
The system will encompass information and booking capabilities for air, rail travel and urban transport for those living and visiting Europe.
A report will be issued later this year with concept trials to start next year. Amadeus has created an advisory board with 10 representatives to develop the project.
“We need to develop European multimodal journey planners in Europe. To make the best use of all existing transport modes and infrastructure, we need to ensure the availability, accessibility and exchange of all relevant information, such as schedules, capacity and paths,” said Siim Kallas, vice president of the EC in charge of transport.
