Customer research conducted by P&O Cruises has led the line to implement major changes across its entire fleet.
More single cabins, an updated restaurant and installation of a ‘Retreat’ are part of the renovation work currently being conducted.
“We are committed to ongoing and continuous improvement and refurbishment of our ships so that there is a consistent standard of decor across the fleet,” said Carol Marlow P&O managing director. “The Glasshouse and Retreat areas on board Azura have proved very popular and so we are taking this opportunity to add these innovations to sister ship Ventura. The addition of a dance floor in the atrium on board Ventura will make it the heart of the ship for afternoon and after dinner dancing, which is so popular on Azura.
“Our research showed that the quality of dining is important to an overwhelming 97% of respondents. The speciality restaurants are also important as variety of dining came through as another priority, with premium grills, classic fine dining, Asian and Indian menus being the most popular. ”
Ventura will spend 13 days in an as yet to be confirmed German shipyard in spring 2013 before departing from Southampton on 7 April 2013.
Venture will receive 18 new single cabins adjacent to the Exchange bar and Fortunes casino; a Glasshouse restaurant to replace the current Las Rambles bar and restaurant; installation of Retreat into the forward area on deck 16; a new dance floor on deck 16; improvements to shopping centre; cyberstudy conversion to library; and a general cabin refurbishments, including replacement carpets, bed runners, cushions, curtains and mattresses.
The 77,499GT Oceana will replace its current Café Jardin with a new menu by Marco Pierre White and refurbish the cabins, spa, shops and casino. Entertainment – both indoor and out – will also undergo major changes. The ship will spend 11 days in the shipyard before sailing from Southampton on 20 December 2012.
Aracdia, which is due to be renovated in December 2013 in time for its 2014 world cruise, will also receive new cabins, a renovated dance venue, cabin refurbishment and an updated restaurant.
