P&O will become the first cruise company to visit Queensland’s Moreton Island, when the Pacific Jewel liner calls there in March next year.
Located off the coast of southern Queensland, Moreton Island is 95% national park and home to marine life including dolphins, whales, dugongs, manta rays and stingrays.
P&O has scheduled six cruises to Moreton Island next year, each featuring a one-day call to the island as part of a four-night itinerary from Sydney.
“Moreton Island is on our doorstep literally, but there are still so many Australians that have never been there. It’s a gorgeous island, packed with lots of exciting nature adventure activities so I think our passengers will love it,” said Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises.
Carnival Australia will have two ships based in Brisbane this summer season – the Pacific Dawn and Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess – while a further 14 Carnival ships will be visiting Queensland from now until April 2013.
