UK budget hotel company Premier Inn has broken ground on its first property in Indonesia.
Five months after setting up its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, the company has started work on its new hotel in the Jimbaran area of Bali. Due to open in the second half of 2013, the new Premier Inn will feature a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. It is being developed by PT Alda Bali Indotel.
“Premier Inn is the perfect fit for Bali,” said Ali Kusno Fusin, PT Alda Bali Indotel’s President Director. “As tourism continues to grow, especially among budget travellers who seek value-for-money options, the opening of Premier Inn Jimbaran will be a natural and timely option.”
First established in 1987, Premier Inn now features 630 budget hotels with more than 49,000 rooms in the UK, Ireland, Middle East and India. It is now looking to expand in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, as well as Indonesia.
“We are among the leading economy hotel brands across the globe with particular strength in offering a great night’s sleep and comfortable stay at affordable prices,” said Erik van Keulen, the company’s Senior Vice President of Development for Asia Pacific. “We will continue to seek like-minded partners from the region who see this as a strong investment proposition.”
