Companies are to be banned from using premium rate phone numbers for enquiries or complaints from next summer.
A new law will come into force on 13 June 2014 which will ban companies from charging more than the cost of a call to mobile or a landline number when a customer is making an enquiry or making a complaint, according to the BBC.
This will mean that companies cannot use numbers starting with 084 and 087 for these circumstances.
Companies will still be able to charge the top rate for when a customer is making a purchase.
Currently mobile phone calls to premium lines can reach up to 41p a minute and up to 15p a minute on a landline.
