QAIA exceeds 6.5 m passengers

Airport International Group (AIG)’s Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has seen positive growth and numbers for 2013.
The airport’s recent 2013 annual traffic statistics show that QAIA welcomed 478,245 passengers during December, an 8.4% increase compared to 2012. This boosted annual passenger traffic (PAX) by four percent to settle at 6,502,323 PAX, marking over a quarter of a million passenger increase compared to 2012 results. Aircraft movements (ACM) in December 2013 also rose by 5.6% over December 2012, recording 5,455 flights for the month and setting annual ACM up by 1.1% to reach 67,959 ACM in total.
Building on its success in 2013, QAIA kicked off its second expansion phase, under the patronage of HE Prime Minister Dr Abdullah Nsour. Valued at over US$ 100 m and scheduled to be completed in 2016, the expansion will help raise QAIA’s annual passenger capacity to up to 12 m.
