Qantas CEO commits to safety

Qantas’Chief Executive Officer, Alan Joyce, has said that the airline’s operational safetywill not be jeopardised as a result of the recently announced job cuts, TheAustralian reported. The airline has announced plans to cut a further 1,750 jobs, while cutting its profit forecast by nearly80%, however Joyce said that Qantas will continue to spend AU$1.5billion (US$ 1.1 billion) each year on maintenance.
“There is absolutely no way weare going to impact on safety in any form or manner by what we are doing,”Joyce was quoted saying.
