Qantas cries out on union conspiracy
Qantas has refuted claims by the Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) that evidence given in last year’s court hearing was contradictory.
TWU National Secretary Tony Sheldon claimed that evidence given at the arbitration case before Fair Work Australia by Qantas Group Chief Financial Officer Gareth Evans contradicts comments made by Qantas Group Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce at a Senate Committee in November.
Qantas Group Executive Government and Corporate Affairs Olivia Wirth however, said the evidence from Evans about Qantas planning for the potential of a lockout for a number of weeks does not contradict Mr Joyce in any way.
“This is another conspiracy theory from the union official who was at the centre of last year’s dispute,” Wirth said.
