Qantas flies A380 to NZ

Qantas has flown its new A380 aircraft into New Zealand. The plane, named, named Nancy-Bird Walton in honour of the Australian aviation pioneer, touched down at Auckland International Airport at around 11pm (NZDT). Following this it operated a special promotional flight for local dignitaries, Qantas customers and media representatives over Auckland at 10am this morning, before returning to Sydney.
“We are delighted to be bringing the A380 to New Zealand,” Qantas Regional General Manager New Zealand and Pacific, Grant Lilly, said. “New Zealand customers will be able to experience travelling on the A380 through connections in Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles from later this month and, from early next year, to London,” he added.
The Qantas A380 will operate its inaugural service between Melbourne and Los
Angeles on Monday 20 October before Sydney-Los Angeles services commence on Friday 24 October.
