Qantas’ long-haul pilots will take industrial action this Friday. The airline said has been informed by the Australian & International Pilots Association (AIPA) of the intention to create service disruptions, including making union announcements to passengers over the in-flight public address system. Among other issues, the union is trying to achieve salary parity between Jetstar and Qantas pilots – a move Qantas believes will make Jetstar’s low-cost services unprofitable. In a statement released today, Qantas said it is “assessing the implications” of the union’s action, but that it doesn’t expect any flight delays or cancellations.
