Qantas has been spared of industrial action over the Easter holidays. The Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) has joined the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association in ruling out strikes during the holiday period. Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas, welcomed the decision. “Qantas is pleased that the unions have ruled out taking industrial action over Easter,” he said. “We want to work with all of our employees to reach new agreements and we remain committed to finding common ground with the unions.” The airline is scheduled to meet the engineers’ union for further talks next week.
