Preparations are going strong for the forthcoming Qasr Al Hosn Festival. The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) recently disclosed programme details of the event scheduled to be held from 11-21 February 2015.
The event is held under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Heritage will be the key spotlight during the festival focusing on guided tours of the Fort, interactive sessions and live performances, in addition to public programmes.
This year’s edition is inspired by two themes – Abu Dhabi’s traditional heritage epitomised by the Qasr Al Hosn Fort and its surrounding areas, and importance of modern heritage showcased in the Cultural Foundation Building.
HE Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, said: “The festival area has been redesigned to include new elements and activities. This year, we are looking forward to reopening the doors of the Cultural Foundation Building. We are looking to illustrate importance of conserving the Fort as a symbol of great significance in Emirati history.”
The festival will also involve schools and university students wherein a tailored school programme is in place. This programme offers students a chance to explore the fort and festival activities through pre-organized morning visits and other activities.
