The Queen Elizabeth 2 luxury cruise ship will visit Singapore this year, en route to China.
The QE2 is currently docked in Dubai, awaiting its transformation into a luxury, all-suite hotel. And Emirates 24-7 reported Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Dubai-based Drydocks World and Maritime World, as saying that said QE2 will set sail from the UAE port on 18 October 2013, bound for Singapore.
It will stay in the Lion City for three days before leaving for a Chinese shipyard to complete its transformation into a luxury hotel. The completed ship-hotel will be ready by 2014.
“Dubai owns the QE2 and will never sell it,” Buamim was quoted saying. “The ship is ours… we are taking exceptional care of her and we will make it iconic.”
Upon completion, the floating hotel will offer 400 suites, including some larger units for long stay guests.
Built in 1967, the QE2 was the flagship of the Cunard fleet until its retirement and sale to Dubai in 2008.
