Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 cruise ship will embark on a 13-night circumnavigation of New Zealand in 2018.
As part of the cruise line’s new 2018 World Voyages programme, which goes on sale on 13 April 2016, Cunard said that “overwhelming demand” for Queen Mary 2’s shorter cruises from local ports in Australasia had prompted it add more itineraries.
The circumnavigation of New Zealand will include Queen Mary 2’s maiden calls at Dunedin on the South Island and Tauranga on the North Island, as part of a 13-night roundtrip sailing from Sydney.
The cruise will depart the Australian city on 24 February 2018, visiting Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and Dusky Sound in Fiordland National Park before continuing around New Zealand with stops in Dunedin, Akaroa, Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland and Bay of Islands.
Australian ports will welcome 14 calls from the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth ships during the 2018 world voyages. Queen Mary 2 will call at Fremantle, Busselton and Adelaide in February 2018 and Brisbane, the Whitsundays and Darwin in March before heading to Asia.
Queen Elizabeth will also visit Australia and New Zealand as part of its world cruise, which will also include its maiden visit to Moorea in French Polynesia.
In total, Queen Mary 2’s 120-night world voyage will visit 45 ports across 23 countries, while Queen Elizabeth’s full 122-night world voyage will call at 39 ports in 25 countries.
