RAK gears up for more European charters

More European charter airlines are looking at starting flights to Ras Al Khaimah to tap the growing number of tourists from Europe to the emirate, said a senior official at the emirate’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
Salem Sultan Al Qasimi, chairman of DCA and member of RAK executive council, said: “We are talking to more charter operators from Europe.”
Currently, around 25 charter companies flying to Ras Al Khaimah, according to data from RAK airport. Al Qasimi said Air Arabia which will commence operations from Ras Al Khaimah Airport next month, will boost trade, tourism and travel industry in Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE.
Al Qasimi said: “Facilities are evaluated by operation guys in Air Arabia and they believe that they in excellent condition to start operations. When there is growth we can expand the airport.”
