Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced that it will launch a cruise connection from Stansted this summer. The British Airways charter flights to Venice will commence in June to coincide with Voyager of the Seas cruises. “Feedback from cruise travellers tells us that convenient flight connections are a factor when selecting their next cruise experience and the new services from Stansted are a great addition to our summer 2011 programme,” said Jo Rzymowska, associate vice president and general manager at RCI UK and Ireland. “Around 6.7 million people live in Stansted’s main catchment area, putting our cruise connections onto the doorstep of millions of potential customers.” In addition, the cruise line launched a promotion based on the ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ film release this summer. The cruise line, which has a partnership with the film’s studios DreamWorks, has revealed it will hold several events and screenings during the summer to tie in with the summer programme. This includes a series of red carpet premieres of the 3D film onboard Allure of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas from 4-18 June. There will be packages available to book which include VIP seats at the premiere; a meet and greet; two soft drinks packages; two cupcakes; a family photo and a chance to create a Pets at Sea plush animal. Festivals and events will also be held onboard the ships to the end of August.
