Construction work on Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will begin early next year after the Indonesian government approved redesign plans recently. The project will be managed by airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II at a cost of IDR11.7 trillion. The project fund consists of investor contributions, including PT Angkasa Pura II, and national bank loans. The operator told the Jakarta Post that the state-owned company’s team was speeding up the detailed engineering design to have the project completed by 2014. Falling behind is not an option because the airport is already close to breaching it annual capacity of 22 million passengers.
