Report finds rising confidence among event organisers at GIBTM

A new report published on the first day of GIBTM in Abu Dhabi predicts the Middle East meetings sector is set for rapid growth over the next two years.The fifth annual Middle East Meetings Industry Research report, conducted by The Right Solution and Nicholas Publishing, found that 89 percent of 555 buyers expect to arrange at least the same, if not more meetings and events this year.This compares favourably with the 2010 report, which found that each organiser surveyed was responsible for organising 6.2 events in the previous corresponding year.The UAE was deemed the most popular destination for MICE initiatives in the Middle East. Dubai was found to attract the largest number of events.Around 70% of buyers reported in the survey expect business to rise in the next year, despite the fact budgets remained tight. More than 85% of suppliers to the meetings industry said they expected to attract new business through to the end of 2012.
