The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has added more than 1,000 luxury rooms to its inventory in China in the past 12 months with new openings in Guangzhou, Sanya and Shenzhen. This growth now sees China’s largest luxury hotel brand offering hotels, resorts and residences across the country.
From a base of one property just 30 months ago, Ritz-Carlton now operates six hotels and one residence in mainland China. This positions the brand the largest and fastest-growing luxury hotel brand in the country. Ritz-Carlton will add two more hotels next year when it opens its second hotel in Shanghai (Pudong) and returns to Hong Kong with what will be the tallest hotel in the world, sitting atop the 118-storey ICC Tower.
Simon Cooper, President and Chief Operating Officer, commented; “China represents an excellent opportunity with such a strong domestic market, as well as international visitors still travelling to the country on business and leisure. Add this to the fact that by 2015, it is expected some 250 million Chinese will be travelling overseas, it makes perfect sense for The Ritz-Carlton to grow its brand in the country now.”
In terms of facilities, Ritz-Carlton’s China properties offer 36 restaurant and bars, six ballrooms totaling more than 3,800m
