Luxury hotel group Rosewood has announced plans for its first ever property in China.
The 279-room Rosewood Beijing will open in summer 2013, and will mark the start of what the company called “ambitious Asia expansion plans”.
The new luxury hotel will be located in the Chinese capital’s Chaoyang district, opposite the CCTV Tower. One of the property’s key selling points will be its expansive outdoor space, which Rosewood claims will be larger than any other luxury hotel in Beijing, including terraces, gardens and balconies integrated with several of the hotel’s facilities, including restaurants, the spa and meeting space.
The guest rooms will be designed in a residential apartment style, with window seats, large bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes.
Hotel facilities meanwhile, will include seven restaurants, including a range of private dining areas, the Rosewood Sense spa brand with five spa suites designed for overnight stays, an indoor swimming pool, gym and yoga studio, plus a lounge for premium guests including an open kitchen, bar, internet area, boardroom and outdoor terrace.
The property will also offer more than 3,000m² of meeting space including a 767m² pillarless ballroom and The Pavilion – a residential-style function area including dining spaces, a bar, lounges and kitchens. This new signature MICE concept will be a first for the group, but it is expected to be rolled out at all future Rosewood hotels in Asia.
Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, said the new hotel would be “contemporary and warm, homelike and refined”.
The US-based hotel company is now targeting up to 10 properties in Asia in the next five years. This push into the Asian market follows the acquisition of Rosewood by Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality in June last year.
