Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will make its debut in Laos in 2017, with the opening of a new luxury tented resort near Luang Prabang.
The new Rosewood Luang Prabang will be located 10 minutes’ drive from the UNESCO-listed city, in a forested setting overlooking a river and waterfall.
The property, which is being designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, will feature just 22 units, comprising eight deluxe villas, three garden villas, six private pool villas and five luxury tents. The 100m² tents, which will feature private dining areas and wrap-around decks, will be a first for Rosewood. All units will be bordered by a stream or riverbank.
Facilities will include a bar and a bistro serving French and Lao cuisine, a Rosewood Spa with three treatment rooms, and a hospitality school providing education and training opportunities to local people.
“At Rosewood Luang Prabang we wish to create an authentic and exquisite journey for every guest,” said Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “It will also mark two milestones for our company – the launch of a community philanthropic school, as well as the introduction of Rosewood luxury tent accommodations.”
Rosewood is on a major expansion drive across Asia, with new properties scheduled to open in Bangkok, Phuket, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Guangzhou, Sanya, Bali and Jakarta between now and 2019.
