On 28 March 2010, Royal Brunei Airlines launched four times weekly services to Shanghai.
Flight BI613 operates to Shanghai on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Bandar Seri Begawan at 10:20am and arriving at Shanghai at 2:35pm in Pudong International Airport. The return flight from Shanghai Flight BI614 will depart Pudong International Airport at 3:35pm and arrive in Bandar Seri Begawan at 8:10pm. The flights will be operated by Royal Brunei Airline’s Airbus 320 or Boeing 767 aircraft.
The service to Shanghai will provide additional passage for the Chinese travelling public to access all of Royal Brunei Airlines destinations, and facilitating passengers to travel to Shanghai. The new direct flights will also provide much needed cargo capacity between Shanghai and Brunei.
Executive Vice President of Commercial Riaz Moiz said, “The re-instatement of our services to Shanghai is timely in view of the Shanghai World Exposition which will be held from May to October, 2010. The Shanghai flight will give a boost to both the China and Brunei tourism industries and the export import business, whilst concurrently positioning Brunei as the gateway to Borneo and beyond.”
