Thailand’s Royal Cliff Hotels Group is aiming to streamline the check-in process, by allowing guests to check-in using only a QR code sent to their smartphone.

Guests will be sent the QR code upon completing their reservation, and on arrival at the hotel reception staff will be able to scan the code directly from the guest’s smartphone or tablet. This will enable front desk staff to instantly retrieve all booking information, including special requests. Royal Cliff said the QR codes would “streamline and accelerate” the check-in process, “eliminating long waiting times”.

“Royal Cliff Hotels Group always looks to enhance its hospitality and services to our valued clientele,” said the company’s executive director, Vitanart Vathanakul. “It is our hope that with the utilisation of this new QR code system, our guests would be provided a more personalised and unique experience showcasing how Royal Cliff Hotels Group is always looking to innovate.”

Royal Cliff will start offering an express check-in lane for guests using the QR code from 1 October 2013.
